The present invention relates to an aqueous binder composition of which process water can be recycled and a method for binding fibrous material by using the same. More particularly, the present invention relates to an aqueous binder composition including at least one reducing sugar, at least one amino acid, and at least one aldehyde compound with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 1% or less, and to a method for binding fibrous material by using the same. The binder composition of the present invention is inexpensive compared to an existing phenol formaldehyde resin (PFR), exhibits physical properties which are the same or higher than properties of the existing PFR, is used to produce a final product, which does not include harmful substances such as formaldehyde and phenol or rarely releases harmful substances, and can reduce intoxication, a drawback of the existing PFR, when processed. In addition, the binder composition of the present invention can significantly improve mechanical properties such as water resistance, tensile strength, and hardness of a processed product and a dust rate when compared to an existing eco-friendly resin without harmful substances such as formaldehyde and phenol. In addition, the binder composition of the present invention has antiseptic properties and thus can prevent the process water from being rotten by microorganisms during a fibrous material binding process using a binder ingredient and enable the process water to be recycled. Therefore, the binder composition is economical. |
