CABLE REDUNDANCY WITH A NETWORKED SYSTEM

There are disclosed systems and methods for supporting cable redundancy in a network. In one embodiment, an adapter has a first port having a first IP address and configured to join a multicast group and receive a first multicast message over a first transmission route. The adapter has a second port having a second IP address and configured to join the multicast group and receive a second multicast message over a second transmission route. The first and second messages both contain output data. The output data in the first message is directed to a data structure when the first transmission route is operational, and the output data in the second message is directed to the data structure when the first transmission route is non-operational and the second transmission route is operational. The IP address of the second port may be dynamically changed to the IP address of the first port.
