Testing multiple target platforms

An automated REpresentational State Transfer (REST) testing tool receives a file representing a set of tests to run on a target test platform and identifies a type of the file. Then the testing tool parses the file based on the type to extract test parameters, and performs test actions on the target test platform based on the test parameters.

1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a processing device, a first file representing a set of tests to run on a first target test platform and a second target test platform and a configuration file indicating a test engine of a plurality of test engines, wherein the first target test platform and the second target test platform have different interface standards; identifying a type of the first file; parsing, by the processing device, the first file in view of the type to extract test parameters; adapting the test parameters to an output file that is compatible with the different interface standards of the first target test platform and the second target test platform; and performing, by the test engine indicated by the configuration file, test actions in parallel on the first target test platform and the second target test platform in view of the test parameters and the different interface standard using a plurality of different communication protocols.
