Plastics insulated wires 1 passing from fixed or movable run-off points in a perforated disc 2 to a nipple 3 where they are stranded together, may also be welded together by axially sliding a heated welding die 6 to a setting where the wires 1 will slide in grooves formed in a conical surface of the welding die 6. The apparatus is particularly useful in stranding machines having a storage device that calls for a reversal of the direction of stranding each time the store has been filled. The die 6 in use temporarily at the locations where the direction of stranding is reversed. |
