The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for activating a driving mode of a mobile terminal. The method for activating a driving mode of a mobile terminal according to the present invention comprises the steps of: activating a global positioning system (GPS) transmission and reception unit of a mobile terminal to make the mobile terminal in a vehicle to communicate with a GPS; receiving information on a location change of the mobile terminal from the GPS through communications between the mobile terminal and the GPS, and calculating a speed of the vehicle based on the information on a location change; and activating a driving mode of the mobile terminal when the speed of the vehicle is higher than a threshold speed. Accordingly, provided are a method and an apparatus for activating a driving mode of a mobile terminal, which can activate a driving mode of a mobile terminal based on the speed of the vehicle detected, via communications, between the GPS and the mobile terminal. |
