The present invention relates to generation and authentication of biometric information using a watermark. According to an embodiment of the present invention, biometric information for authentication including a security watermark pattern, which is effective only for a prescribed period of time, is generated and provided to be used for biometric authentication. When processing the biometric authentication, the biometric authentication is normally processed only if the security watermark pattern included in the biometric information for authentication is a recent pattern generated within the prescribed period of time. Therefore, even if an accident such as hacking or the like occurs in a device using the biometric information in authentication and consequently the biometric information for authentication including the security watermark pattern is leaked, the security watermark pattern becomes useless when the prescribed period of time elapses, and thus an authentication process results in a failure, thereby providing a high level of security. |
