[Also in Division F2] A nut blank having a bore to be screw threaded, is made from, e.g. synthetic plastics or a metal alloy, and has a plain portion 12 and a portion 13 with several longitudinal ribs 15 formed therearound. The ribs taper in thickness and have their outer ends lying on a helical line. The ribs may have straight or curved sides which may be radiused into the portion 12, and can decrease in radial thickness away from the portion 12. The outer ends may be in a plane normal to the axis of the blank. An integral washer 10 is formed on the end of the blank.
