PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable nozzle turbocharger that can preferably suppress a decrease in supercharging efficiency due to leakage of an exhaust gas from the clearance of a nozzle vane.SOLUTION: In the variable nozzle turbocharger, at an end of the nozzle vane 17 on an outer peripheral side of an arc formed by a streamline S of the exhaust gas blowing to a turbine wheel 11 when viewed from a direction orthogonal to a rotation axis A of the turbine wheel 11, a plate-like outer peripheral-side flange part 19 having a blade-shape cross section that provides lift force toward the inner peripheral side of the arc in response to an exhaust gas flow that flows through a connection passage 16.
