PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit of an internal combustion engine 10 capable of grasping the occurrence of abnormal combustion without using a cylinder internal pressure sensor and dealing with the abnormal combustion.SOLUTION: If detecting abnormal combustion on the basis of an output value from a knocking sensor 22 at a time of executing a combustion control over an internal combustion engine 10, an ECU 40 determines whether occurrence timing of the detected abnormal combustion is at an advance position from a predetermined crank angle. If determining that the occurrence timing is at the advance position from the predetermined crank angle, the ECU 40 computes a point indicating a probability of abnormal combustion at an excessively high combustion pressure in response to a revolving speed and a torque using a map, and adds the point computed using the map to a cumulative value of points so far. If determining that the cumulative value is equal to or greater than a specified value, the ECU 40 suppresses an actual operating point of the internal combustion engine from entering a region where the abnormal combustion at the excessively high combustion pressure tends to occur. |
