PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion chamber of a direct injection diesel engine that can restrain a reduction in an amount of heat produced and an increase in CO in exhaust gas even if using fuel gas as fuel of the diesel engine for light oil.SOLUTION: A combustion chamber comprises a cavity 6 that is recessed in a top surface 5 of a piston 4 in a direct injection diesel engine 1 and into which fuel is injected from an injector 7 installed above the piston 4. DME is used as the fuel, and an opening diameter X of the cavity 6 is made smaller than an opening diameter Y of a cavity 12 in the case of using light oil as the fuel without changing the internal volume of the cavity 6. |
