PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon heater, a heater unit and a firing furnace, in which consumption of a heater is suppressed so that the heater is hardly broken, and thereby life of the heater can be improved, and a method for manufacturing a silicon-containing porous ceramic fired body.SOLUTION: A carbon heater used in firing a silicon-containing material in a non-oxidation atmosphere has a cross-sectional shape of a nearly n-polygon, the n being 3-8.
