PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device that eliminates a phenomenon in which a feeling of response to hands abruptly decreases owing to a steering assist in the beginning of turning of a steering wheel, and greatly increases the feeling of response to the hands when the steering wheel is turned sharply.SOLUTION: An electric power steering device is provided with: an input shaft 14 coupled to a steering shaft 8; a first torsion bar 12 which has one end coupled to the input shaft 14 and elastically deforms to twist; an output shaft 13 coupled to the other end of the first torsion bar 12; and an angle limiting mechanism 18 which has a torque sensor 20 detecting torque from relative rotation between the input shaft 14 and output shaft 13 and an electric motor applied with a current corresponding to the output of the torque sensor 20, is provided with an elastic mechanism 17 between the steering shaft 8 and input shaft 14, and limits the elastic deformation of the elastic mechanism 17 to an angle range smaller than a predetermined angle range of the first torsion bar 12, torque being detected from relative rotation between the steering shaft 8 and input shaft 14 as well. |
