PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut out a fuse at a desired current value, irrespective of a current rating of a fuse element.SOLUTION: A fuse element comprises: soluble conductors 31 and 32 which blow out at a predetermined current; a first heat-generating resistor 33 which adjusts the heating amount of the soluble conductors 31 and 32; a cooling element 34 which adjusts the cooling amount of the soluble conductors 31 and 32; and an IC 22 which uses a first FET 23 and a second FET 24 to control the first heat-generating resistor 33 or the cooling element 34, thereby controlling the current cutoff characteristics of the soluble conductors 31 and 32. The IC 22 detects a current value with the use of a detection resistor 21 so as to input a pulse signal having a duty ratio that has been adjusted to the first FET 23 or the second FET 24 in accordance with the current value.
