FIELD: physics, computer engineering.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and a method of presenting differences between documents. One method includes detecting one or more differences between a first document and at least a second document. The method further includes determining whether each of the differences is a significant or insignificant difference. Determination of whether each of the differences is a significant or insignificant difference can be performed automatically without involving a user. The method further includes providing the user with a description of significant differences. The method further includes either concealing insignificant differences from the user, or displaying insignificant differences using a different method from that through which the description of significant differences is provided.EFFECT: comparing documents with subsequent filtering of differences between the documents which do not affect identity of the compared documents.24 cl, 14 dwg
