A metering valve comprises a valve member 4 having metering portions 23, 24 of different conicity, e.g. 3 degrees and 15 degrees respectively, and a closure portion 25 co-operable with a seat 10. A threaded portion 17 of the valve member co-operates with a threaded bore 16 in a gland nut 13, the latter serving to compress an 0-ring 21 via a washer 22. A knob 5 is secured to the free end of the valve member and is lockable by means of screw 29. Flanges 19, 20 on the gland nut and valve member respectively limit opening movement of the latter. A check valve 31, 32 permits flow from right to left. The operating knob is uniformly graduated around its lower end (Fig. 1, not shown) from 0 to 9 and the spigot 6 has a number of axially spaced rows of indices. The arrangement is such that one full rotation of the knob moves it axially from one row to the next.</p> |
