Disclosed are a black box for a vehicle and a method for preventing data deletion. The black box for a vehicle comprises: a driving information collecting part for collecting the driving information of a vehicle; a storage part for storing the collected driving information in different regions depending on the detection of an accident; an input part for inputting an initializing command with respect to the storage part; and a control part for determining the detection of a recent accident depending on the initializing command, conducting the authentication of a user if it is determined that the initializing command was input after the recent accident was detected, and conducting or blocking the initialization of the storage part depending on the authentication of the user.
