PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crankcase lubricant having desirable frictional properties to reduce the frictional loss of an engine and improve the fuel consumption and fuel consumption holding capacity at low temperature when engine is started, in particular.SOLUTION: A lubricant composition has a sulfated ash content of 1.2 mass% or less when determined by ASTM D874, and a phosphorus content of 0.12 mass% or less when determined by ASTM D5185. The lubricant composition comprises the following components: a large amount of oil with a lubricating viscosity; an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible polymer friction adjusting agent as a small amount of effective additive; and at least one oil-soluble or oil-dispersible molybdenum compound as a small amount of effective additive; or is made of a mixture of these components. |
