A photographic processing apparatus comprises a processing station 10 having a support 12 for a film 14 to be processed; a continuous movable web 18 having a porous surface to which an applicator 26 applies processing solution first before the web enters the processing stations; a drive roller 22 which moves the web in a closed path so that the porous surface receives the solution from the applicator and imparts it to the film against which the web is pressed when in the station 10; and a roller 28, downstream of the station exit, which extracts excess solution from the surface so that the surface is ready to once again receive and apply processing solution to the film. The support 12 may be heated. The web and film may be continuously or intermittently transported through the processing station in the same or in opposite directions. The excess solution extracted by the roller 28 is removed by a vacuum solution extractor 30. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the web 18 is replaced by a rotatable drum (32) having a porous surface layer (34). In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), a plurality of applicators (26") is provided for applying different processing solutions in succession to the porous web. |
