The present invention relates to an air-conditioner and a control method thereof. The air-conditioner comprises: a power part, a voltage detection part, a driving part, and a control part. The power part receives power from a connected power generator and rectifies and levels the power to supply direct current power. The voltage detection part measures the voltage of the direct current power of the power part. The driving part controls the drive of a compressor and an outdoor fan. The control part recognizes a drive mode with respect to the power of the generator to set a mode of the generator, determines the load state of the power of the generator corresponding to the voltage measured by the voltage detection part, and controls the outdoor fan to be operated when the power of the generator is in a non-load state. The load state of the provided power is determined such that the drive is controlled. Therefore, when the supplied input power is in the non-load state, an inflow of high voltage is prevented such that damage to a product due to an inflow of high voltage can be prevented, thereby improving reliability and stability of the product. |
