PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both prevention of a crack in a heating body resulting from a thermal runaway and a reduction in the rising time of the heating body and to improve the productivity of a recording material of small size.SOLUTION: In an image heating device that heats an image t on a recording material while conveying the recording material P held in a nip N, either one of electrification heat generation electric bodies 204 and 207 provided on one side and the other side, respectively, of the substrate 206 of the heating body 203 is shorter than the other. In addition, the resistance temperature characteristic of the short heat generation resistance body is positive while the resistance temperature characteristic of the long heat generation resistance body is zero or negative. The short heat generation resistance body and the long heat generation resistance body are connected parallel to each other. In the case where an image on a recording material is heated using the short heat generation resistance body, the short and long heat generation resistance bodies are electrified until they reach their respective heating temperatures. |
