PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for culturing a human or primate embryonic stem cell (ES cell) in vitro stably for a long period of time.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for culturing a primate or human ES cell with a particle comprising a matrix coated thereon and having a positive charge. The particle has a longest size of 50-400 μm, e.g., about 200 μm, in a substantially elongated cylinder or rod shape, and having a cross section size of 20-30 μm, or about 20 μm to about 120 μm, e.g., about 65 μm, in a substantially compact or spherical shape. The invention discloses a method comprising contacting a first and second primate or human ES cell attached to each particle to form an aggregate of cells and culturing the aggregate to propagate the primate or human ES cells for at least one passage, and also a method for culturing the ES cell in vitro by the method under conditions inducing ES cell differentiation. |
