PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve implementation reliability of a magnetic head slider responding to a thermally assisted recording system.SOLUTION: A substrate 1 for a suspension includes a magnetic head slider implementation region 2 where a magnetic head slider 50 mounting a light-emitting element 55 is to be implemented. The magnetic head slider implementation region 2 includes a metal substrate 10 having a hole 10A where the light-emitting element is inserted, an insulating layer 20 disposed on the metal substrate to surround the opening, and a wiring layer 30 disposed on the insulating layer. The wiring layer includes a terminal 32 disposed close to the opening and connected to the magnetic head slider. A side face 32A close to the light-emitting element, and an upper face 32B of the terminal are covered with a first metal layer 33. A second metal layer 34 having higher wettability with solder than that of the first metal layer is disposed on an upper face 33A of the first metal layer. The first metal layer at least on the side face close to the light-emitting element is exposed to the outside. A support part 75 is disposed on the metal substrate to support the back face of the magnetic head slider at an opposite side to the terminal side of the slider.
