1. A user interface of a computer system configured to display a visualization of a large data set of inter-related elements, each element having a type among a plurality of types, the user interface comprising:
a frames portion, comprising:
a plurality of regularly shaped, non-overlapping graphical objects, each object representing an instance of an element in the data set; anda plurality of frames, each frame corresponding to one type of the plurality of types of element, and containing objects representing elements of the same type, such that a first frame contains only objects representing elements of a first type, and a second frame contains only objects representing elements of a second type, where, in each frame, the objects are displayed in a regular arrangement, not overlapping with each other, and without any lines connecting between any of the objects within a frame;the frames portion configured to receive a selection of an object in the first frame that represents a first element of the first type, and to update, in the second frame, a visual attribute of those objects representing elements of the second type having at least one predetermined relationship with the first element to be different from a corresponding attribute of objects in the second frame that do not have the at least one predetermined relationship with the first element. |
