The invention further relates to the alkali metal sulphide nanoparticles produced by the method according to the invention and to the use of the alkali metal sulphide nanoparticles produced by the method according to the invention as cathode material, in particular for an alkali metal sulphur battery. The invention further relates to an alkali metal sulphur battery comprising a cathode that contains the alkali metal sulphide nanoparticles according to the invention. The alkali metal sulphide is in particular lithium sulphide.
