The present invention provides a path planning method and a controller. The method comprises: acquiring data flow information of a task to be transmitted in a software defined network, the task comprising at least one target data flow, and the data flow information of the task comprising a source address, a destination address and a traffic of each target data flow; and performing path planning according to the data flow information, so as to obtain a task transmission path that makes a task transmission time of the task in the software defined network shortest, the task transmission path comprising a transmission path separately corresponding to each target data flow. The present invention improves the data transmission speed of a task in an SDN.
