PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer clad optical transmitter body having improved oil resistance and large numerical aperture by forming a clad, which is grafted with silane to a fluorine-contg. polyolefin and is then crosslinked by contact with moisture, on a core. CONSTITUTION:The liquid prepd. by dispersing the fluorine-contg. polyolefin such as a copolymer of polyvinylidene fluoride, vinylidene fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene and an unsatd. silane compd., for example, vinyl trimethoxysilane as well as org. peroxide and dibutyl tin dilaurate as silanol condensation catalyst into a composite solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone/ethyl acetate is coated on the core made of glass or plastic and the core is passed through a drying furnace to remove the solvent, then the core is passed through a heating furnace, by which the clad film is melted and the silane is grafted to the fluorine-contg. polyolefin. The core is thereafter crosslinked in a thermostatic chamber kept at and under 80 deg.C and 90% relative humidity. The optical transmitter body having the high adhesive strength to the core, good stability to a heat cycle, a low transmission loss and excellent oil resistance is thus obtd. |
