PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a cassette inserted into a cassette-receiving bay to be properly engaged by one or more of a plurality of locking members.SOLUTION: A label printing apparatus comprises: a cassette-receiving bay adapted to receive a cassette, the cassette-receiving bay having a base, an opening opposite the base, and side walls extending between the base and the opening; a cassette locking mechanism comprising at least one locking element having a locking position for engagement with the cassette inserted into the cassette-receiving bay; and cassette detection means operable to determine whether the at least one locking element is engaged with the cassette inserted into the cassette-receiving bay. |
