PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizable air cleaning machine in which chlorine dioxide can be generated and discharged when necessary and chlorine dioxide is not generated when not necessary, and to provide an air cleaning method using the sterilizable air cleaning machine.SOLUTION: The sterilizable air cleaning machine includes: a chlorine-based solid sterilizing agent containing chlorite as an effective component; a means for vaporizing an acidic liquid; and another means for vaporizing an alkaline liquid and is constituted so that the acidic gas obtained by vaporizing the acidic liquid is brought into contact with the chlorine-based solid sterilizing agent and discharged to the atmosphere on the outside of the sterilizable air cleaning machine and then the alkaline gas obtained by vaporizing the alkaline liquid is brought into contact with the chlorine-based solid sterilizing agent and discharged to the atmosphere on the outside of the sterilizable air cleaning machine for a fixed period of time. |
