When a nozzle of an ink jet head and a recording medium come into contact with each other, the nozzle is damaged, thereby causing discharge failure. Consequently, in the present invention, by disposing nozzle guards (22) that cause a nozzle row (30) to be exposed on the nozzle surface of a nozzle plate (51) of a recording head (9), the contact of the nozzle row (30) and the recording medium is prevented. In addition, by inserting buffer plates (32) between the nozzle guards (22) and the nozzle plate (51), ink does not readily infiltrate between the nozzle guards (22) and the nozzle plate (51) and the amount of ink that overflows is reduced. |
