PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide use of a compound in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment and/or prevention of osteoporosis, bone loss, bone resorption, bone fractures, metastatic bone disease and/or disorders related to cathepsin functioning in a mammal.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a cathepsin K inhibitor, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a mixture thereof. The present invention also provides use of the cathepsin K inhibitor, or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or the mixture thereof, in the preparation of a medicant, characterized by a single-dose AUC0-168 of about 2.00 to 80.0 μM/hr and a Cmin of about 10 nM to about 200 nM, as an oral unit dose for inhibiting bone resorption in a mammal in need thereof according to a continuous schedule having a dosage interval of once weekly, biweekly, twice monthly or once monthly. |
