A traveling toy of the present invention comprises a traveling body (50) and a rail (10) on which the traveling body (50) travels. In the rail (10), first permanent magnets (13) are juxtaposed at prescribed intervals along a traveling direction in the width-direction center of a floor (11), and second permanent magnets (14) are laid along the traveling direction on both sides in the width direction of the floor (11). The traveling body (50) includes: a lithium battery (71); a reed switch (72) that detects the first permanent magnets (13) and that is provided with a third permanent magnet (62) which produces a repulsion force between the third permanent magnet and the second permanent magnets (14) to cause the traveling body (50) to float, at a position opposing the second permanent magnets (14); and a coil (73) that is energized by power from the lithium battery (71) when the reed switch (72) detects the first permanent magnets (13), and thereby causes the traveling body (50) to advance in a prescribed direction by using the magnetic force generated between the coil and the first permanent magnets (13). |
