The invention relates to a system for cooling a rotating electric machine by using a cooling gas flowing in a sub-region of the rotating electric machine, comprising a fan device that is arranged on the rotor and rotates with the rotor, by way of which a cooling gas stream can be generated, a sensor device for detecting a state parameter of a part of the rotating electric machine, continuously and at temporal intervals, an additional fan device, by way of which an additional cooling gas stream can be generated, and a closed-loop and/or open-loop control device that is connected to the sensor device and to the additional fan device by way of communications technology. The closed-loop and/or open-loop control device activates the additional fan device whenever the state parameter detected by the sensor device exceeds a specified threshold value or is equal to said threshold value, deactivates the additional fan device whenever the state parameter detected by the sensor device is below the specified threshold value, and actuates the additional fan device such that the strength of the additional cooling gas stream generated by the additional fan device increases with an increasing difference between the respective detected state parameter and the threshold value, and with a decreasing difference between the respective detected state parameter and the threshold value, the strength decreases. |
