A process for producing a dry solid organic peroxide comprises the steps of treating an aqueous suspension containing the peroxide, at least 1000% (by weight of peroxide) of water with from 10 to 50% (by weight of peroxide) of a water-insoluble plasticizer, e.g. dibutyl phthalate, dimethylglycolphthalate or phosphoric acid ester, and maintaining the peroxide in suspension for a period of time and recovering the resulting substantially dry organic peroxide. In a modification the suspension contains from 100 to 1000% (by weight of peroxide) of water. Examples are given using benzoyl peroxide and mesityl oxide peroxide. |
