Provided are a medical device and treatment method for removing unnecessary matter generated within blood vessels, such as arteries and veins, i.e. occluding material causing stenosis or blockage of the blood vessels. This medical device comprises: a drive shaft (8) equipped with a treatment member (5) positioned on the tip side, and driven by operation on the proximal side; a housing that houses the proximal side of the drive shaft (8); and a holding member (101) that inhibits unnecessary operation of the drive shaft (8). The proximal end of the holding member (101) is fixed to the housing, and the inner surface of the holding member (101) and the outer surface of the drive shaft (8) are effectively fastened to one another. |
