A testing system and method for a thermoelectric module. The testing system comprises an electrical property testing unit (1), a thermal flux detecting unit and processor (3); the electrical property testing unit (1) is electrically connected with a thermoelectric module (2) operating in a power generation state, in order to test the output power P of the thermoelectric module (2) and the current I and internal resistance R of the thermoelectric module (2) operating under this output power; the thermal flux detecting unit comprises a heat flux sensor (5) arranged at a cold end of the thermoelectric module (2) and used for detecting the heat flux Qc1 of the cold end of the thermoelectric module (2); the processor (3) is electrically connected with the electrical property testing unit (1) to receive the information detected by the electrical property testing unit (1); the processor (3) is electrically connected with the heat flux detecting unit to receive the heat flux Qc1 of the cold end of the thermoelectric module (2) detected by the heat flux detecting unit, and the processor (3) is used for calculating the thermoelectric conversion efficiency of the thermoelectric module (2) according to the formula η=P/(Qc1+P-1/2I2R).
