PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biomass gas mono-fuel engines which can be operated efficiently by reducing the amount of biomass gas to be wasted, and to provide a cogeneration system using the same.SOLUTION: A biomass gas mono-fuel combustion engine 1 configured to supply biomass gas generated in a gasification furnace 2 to an engine 4, comprises: pressure sensors 16 and 17 provided in a gas supply path 31 coming out of the gasification furnace 2; and a control unit 10 for increasing or decreasing a required engine load L2 in response to changes in the pressure of the biomass gas. The biomass gas mono-fuel combustion engine 1 may comprise a control unit 10 for increasing or decreasing a required engine load L1 in response to changes in a combustion calorie of the biomass gas with oxygen sensors 13 and 14 or an entire area sensor 15 provided in an exhaust path 45 of the engine 4.
