PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate maintenance while shortening total length of a lifting rope in an elevator having no machine room.SOLUTION: An elevator 10 includes: a car 20 for moving up and down in a hoistway 12; a balancing weight 26 for moving up and down the hoistway 12 in the direction opposite from the car 20; a hoist 22 provided inside the hoistway 12 for rotationally driving a disc-like sheave; a lifting rope 28 in which both end parts are connected to a ceiling part of the hoistway 12 and which, in the middle part, is bridged across three points, that is the car 20, the disc-like sheave of the hoist 22 and the balancing weight 26; and a self-propelled mechanism 30 driven by using a rotational driving force of the hoist 22 for moving the hoist 22 along the vertical direction of the hoistway 12. |
