<p>Provided is a medium-processing device capable of making a thermal head follow a deformed card-shaped medium and of reducing size in the width direction of the medium, the direction being substantially orthogonal to the direction in which the conveyed medium is conveyed. The medium processing device is equipped with: a thermal head (36) that contacts and prints on a medium passing through the medium conveyance path; a head holding part (70) that holds the thermal head (36); and a movement mechanism (71) that moves the thermal head (36) between a contact position in which the thermal head (36) is able to contact the medium and a standby Position in which the thermal head (36) is drawn away from the medium conveyance path. The head-holding part (70) is equipped with: a head-holding member (76); a head support shaft (77), the direction of the rotation axis of which is the direction that the medium is conveyed and which supports the thermal head (36) so that the relative rotation of the thermal head (36) with respect to the head-holding member (76) is possible; and a pressing mechanism (78) that presses the thermal head (36) toward the head-holding member (76) in the direction that the medium is conveyed.</p> |
