An article of footwear, e.g. sandal 100, comprising an upper sole 200 with a retaining strap 500 and a lower sole 300, with a convex downward protrusion 400 which acts as a curved rocker corresponding with the transverse mid arch area of the wearers foot. The downward protrusion 400, remains in contact with the ground whilst the wearer is in a seated position and acts as a fulcrum, allowing the foot to rock back and forth in a see-saw motion, exercising the calf and lower leg muscles and improving blood flow in the lower leg. The shape of the footwear is configured to try and mitigate against the formation of blood clots and deep vein thrombosis in the wearer. |
