The invention relates to a method of fabricating mesoporous carbon coated FeS 2 , the method comprising the steps of:
- placing particulate FeS 2 into a solution comprising carbon;
- heating the solution to form carbon coated FeS 2 in a first heating step;
- heating the solution comprising carbon coated FeS 2 in a second heating step to bring about a carbonization of the carbon coated FeS 2 and a part decomposition of the carbon coated FeS 2 to FeS, wherein the temperature of the second heating step is higher than the temperature of the first heating step. The invention further relates to mesoporous carbon coated FeS 2 and to a positive electrode material.
