<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an area of interest to perform refocus processing of only the area of interest, thereby accelerating processing. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing device which performs refocus processing comprises: input means for inputting a virtual focus parameter; determination means which determines the area of interest on the basis of the virtual focus parameter and calculates area-of-interest information; interpolation means which generates an interpolated image indicating an image taken from a virtual viewpoint position; and composition means which generates a refocus image from the taken image, the interpolated image, and the area-of-interest information.
