511,835. Indexing. SOC. GENEVOISE D'INSTRUMENTS DE PHYSIQUE. April 1, 1939, No. 10256. Convention .date, Feb. 23. [Class 83 (iii)] In an indexing device for the table 1 of a machine tool, the table carries a series of spaced pivots fitted with hardened rotatable rollers 14 coacting with members 16, 17 which are moved equally in opposite directions by a common operating pinion 20 to engage opposite sides of the rollers. The pivots are each mounted in the table by split conical members 8. 9 secured in a sleeve 11 by a nut 10 and the bearing surface carrying the roller is lubricated by a wick 23 from a reservoir 24. The surface 19 of the roller engaging members is slightly inclined. The unlocking movement is limited by an abutnent 29 engaging the member 16, and in the unlocked position, the rollers can pass between the members 25, 26 and 27, 28 when the table is rotated. For fine adjustment of the positions the roller bearing 30 may be eccentric to the part 6. In some cases, the spacing of the rollers may be irregular. |
