1,073,990. Clutch control. HEENAN & FROUDE Ltd. March 3, 1965 [March 5, 1964], No. 9140/65. Heading F2L. [Also in Divisions G3 and H2] An electromagnetic coupling is provided with a slip-ring having an interrupted margin which co-operates with brushes so as to provide pulses for use in a speed control system, the frequency of the pulses being indicative of the speed of the output member of the coupling. As shown, a fractional horse-power motor 1 drives an eddy current cup 13 which co-operates with a rotatable field member 34 having a winding 27 connected to slip-rings 63, 65. The member 34 is coupled to an output pulley 37. Brush 101 is supplied from a direct current power supply PS so that brush 111, co-operating with the interrupted margin 67 of slip-ring 65 provides pulses, indicative of the output speed, for use in control system 113 of the type described in Specification 1,059,752. The control system 113 supplies current pulses to the field winding 27, the duration of the pulses being such that the speed of pulley 37 is maintained constant. |
