A control unit is described for driving an electric motor (M1) adapted to move a movable barrier such as a gate. To improve the barrier control during braking, the control unit comprises a H-bridge topology PWM-modulated switching stage (M4-M5, M7-M8) able to power the electric motor, a feedback loop to adjust the speed of the barrier, and an electrical energy storage element (C2) which is placed in parallel to the H-bridge and is adapted to store the energy coming from the motor during the braking action of the barrier so as to limit over-voltages across the H-bridge. |
