PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the height of a key switch which utilizes a linking mechanism. SOLUTION: A key top 21 has sliding guide parts 23-3, 23-5 on its lower face. The sliding guide parts 23-3, 23-5 guide the slide shaft part 31-3 of a first link 31 and the sliding shaft part 12-3a of a second link 32 in the X1, X2 direction perpendicular, in the pressing-down direction Z2, and occupy a narrow space in the pressing-down direction. The first link 31 and the second link 32 make rotation shaft parts 31-1, 31-5a fit to the bearing holes 25-5-1, 25-5-2 of a housing 25, while fan type gear parts 31-6, 31-7a are meshed to form a V shape, and supported by the housing 25. When the key switch 20 is pressed down, the sliding shaft parts 31-1 and 31-3a move the sliding guide parts 23-3, 23-5 in the X1, X2 direction, and are symmetrically rotated so that the first link 31 and the second link 32 are opened.
