PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-cooled air compressor capable of inhibiting performance deterioration of a plate type heat exchanger 7 caused by clogging of foreign matter such as dust between plates. SOLUTION: The water-cooled air compressor equipped with the plate type heat exchanger 7 for heat-exchanging compressed air from a compressor main body 2 with cooling water is equipped with a first solenoid valve 11 and a second solenoid valve 14 respectively provided in a cooling water supply pipe 10 and a cooling water discharge pipe 13 of the heat exchanger 7, an air supply pipe line 15 connecting compressed air supply piping 8 on an outlet side of the heat exchanger 7 and the cooling water discharge pipe 13, a third solenoid valve 16 and a check valve 17 provided in the air supply pipe line 15, a discharge pipe line 18 branched from the cooling water supply pipe 10 of the heat exchanger 7, a fourth solenoid valve 19 provided in the discharge pipe line 18, and a control means 20 for open and close control of the first to fourth solenoid valves.
