PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of surely preventing an image defect such as so-called "image flow" resulting from sticking of discharge product to the surface of an image carrier and capable of preventing a fault so-called "blade curl" referring to the backward curling of a cleaning blade disposed in contact with the surface of the image carrier. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the image carrier 15 rotated to form an electrostatic latent image on its surface according to image information; a developing means using two-component developer composed of toner T and carrier C, used for developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the image carrier; a carrier storage means 42 for storing at least the carrier by the contact with the surface of the image carrier; and a carrier supply means for supplying at least carrier to the carrier storage means.
