<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode device in which a character plate and a light guiding plate can be arranged to be appressed to each other with the character plate kept to be uniformly planar. <P>SOLUTION: A holder 3 is shaped, that is, so that an end face 23 as a third end face which is one end face of a housing 4 of a light emitting diode 2 on the side of a first end face 41 is flush with the end face 41 of the housing 4. With such an arrangement, when a light emitting diode module 1 is arranged so that light can be directed onto an incident surface 102a of a light guiding plate 102, the light emitting diode module 1 can be avoided from being projected toward the side of the character plate 101 beyond the incident surface 102a.
