<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device excellent in the light utilization efficiency of a primary light source, not damaging the high-luminance property, and excellent in the viewing angle property and the image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The light source device includes at least: a primary light source; a light guide having a light incident surface on which light emitted from the primary light source is incident and a light outgoing surface which guides and emits the incident light; a light deflecting element disposed adjacent to the light guide's light outgoing surface; and a light diffusing element disposed adjacent to the light deflecting element's light outgoing surface.
