<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reader for reliably reading, with a small amount of illumination, a direct marking provided on the surface of a subject that causes specular reflection. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of light-emitting diodes 50 are arranged to be tilted toward an interior wall near a tip of a cover 30. The direct marking Q is illuminated from both sides with the light-emitting diodes 50, whereby the direct marking Q can be reliably read as light diffused from the direct marking Q is made incident on an image-forming lens 27. Also, reflected light obtained by specularly reflecting the illuminating light from the light-emitting diodes 50 at the subject R to be read is again reflected toward the subject R to be read by a reflection member 42, whereby it is made possible to read the direct marking with a small amount of illumination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
